European Day of Demography is Wednesday 15th February, but what is demography and how can it help us live in a more equal world? Oxford Sparks has teamed up with Oxford’s Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science to explore these questions in our latest micro-documentary, released on Demography Day (https://population-europe.eu/events/european-day-demography).
In this trailer, the Centre’s Dr José Manuel Aburto (demographicscience.ox.ac.uk/jose-manuel-aburto) highlights how demography can be used to improve our understanding of important issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021 the Centre won the O2RB Excellence in Impact Awards (socsci.ox.ac.uk/o2rbawards), for their data driven policy interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, which funded the micro-documentary.
