A massive search for a missing 5-year-old girl ended in tragedy on Monday morning when authorities recovered her body in the waters near Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Deputies state that Saylor Hayes wandered away on Sunday from a home her family was renting in the Hagley Estates neighborhood. After her parents reported her missing, hundreds of volunteers joined local and state law enforcement in an intense, two-day search effort. Divers, K-9 units, drones, helicopters, and marine patrols scoured the land and water before agents from the Department of Natural Resources located the little girl's body shortly before 9:45 a.m. Monday in the water behind the rental property. The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the exact circumstances of her death remains ongoing.
