This Monday morning’s Music + Coffee combo...
I am blessed in Stroud, Gloucestershire to have not one, but two record stores in our town (see my previous post with 'After the Gold Rush' by Neil Young). Like many of the UK stores I've already mentioned or will mention soon, Trading Post is another I've had the pleasure of playing at many times either when an album has come out or on @RecordStoreDayUK. I bought the beautiful 'Ghosteen' by @nickcave in the shop post-lockdown. It was a joy to browse the shelves and not know what I'd come home with. I'm glad I picked this record - the arrangements, lyrics, production and artwork are all stunning, as is always the case with Mr Cave.
When I worked as a barista in London some ten years ago, lots of best cafes started to use Square Mile roasters, for good reason too - they're standards are exceptional! When I released my Dear River album in 2013, I collaborated with Square Mile to create a special, limited-edition bag of coffee beans to take on tour as merchandise. It had some of the Dear River artwork and included a download code of coffee song covers. Did anyone pick one of those up on our UK tour? It was a such pleasure to revisit their coffee and try out this delicious Nicaraguan bean with "red plum, butterscotch and peach" notes.
