Traditional finance (TradFi) operates on predictable, user-friendly mechanics—buyers receive exactly what they pay for, and fees are handled separately. In contrast, blockchain-native systems often rely on "friction" fees, deducting a percentage of the transferred asset. This fundamental difference creates a UX barrier for mainstream adoption, particularly in real estate and institutional-grade transactions. At Propto, our biggest technical challenge has been enforcing payment of fees on every trade without breaking the TradFi mental model—all while trading on the XRPL mainnet, using only its native features without additional programmability.
In this talk, we’ll explore our approach to designing a fee enforcement mechanism that maintains blockchain security while delivering a seamless, institutional-grade experience.
