1st in NA, 46th in the world. 2nd in NA is 1:38.530 by Raistlin (+0.133). 2nd in the US is 1:39.788 by mt17 (+1.391!!).
Probably my new biggest accomplishment, I managed to beat CarlJr. and Raistlin with this time, the two NA competitors I couldn't beat on A05.
I actually managed to grab the #1 spot in the US relatively easily, just kind of figuring out my own line, except for the wallbang. Getting sub 1:39 and lower took some changes, though. Not gonna lie, I decided to race against Fire's ghost and ended up just going off of a lot of what he did. I learned a lot from that, though, which particularly improved my starts. Learned to go high on that first u-turn to get more speed. Something I learned on my own was a strat to get the gear shift before the u-turn fairly consistently. It felt like it was a matter of winning the lottery when I was just going by Fire's line, but I experimented some and I found a way to get it around 50% of the time, which made it a lot less infuriating and better. Once I learned that, I actually managed to be able to compete with Fire's start, even pulling ahead a couple times (never lasted very long though, lmao). I'm no Fire, obviously, but I learned enough to pull this time off, and I'm pretty happy with my improvement.
As for the run itself, honestly, it could still use a lot of work. I would love this level if it wasn't for wallbang downhill and, more importantly, the stupid jump right after it. Getting the right gear after that jump felt completely random when I was hunting, and like 50% of the time it killed my speed for the next turn. In fact, I think lap 1 suffered from this. I learned a better wallbang strat that seemed to help with this afterwards, but by now I think I've had enough of grinding this. Happy with what I got, at least. Sure, it's not the greatest accomplishment ever, but I'll take what I can get, I'm no pro player. Scary wallbang on lap 3, just happy I finished the run.
Guess I'm not too bad at these dirt multilaps, I will become the US dirt god. Watch out Fire and Aziix, I'm coming for you. Not really.
