Time for Author Medal: 28.611

This level introduces grass! A whopping one tile of grass for you to drive over! Kind of a boring introduction, really. Barely worth mentioning. I'll go over grass later, when it actually matters.

Fairly simple level, but you'll want to know how to slide/drift for it. Basically, hold a direction and then hold brake as needed. You may also need to release the throttle during your slide to make it. This will be important for the rest of the game. Some turns are faster if you slide, and some are faster if you release without sliding instead. You may need to experiment as needed.

Guide: After driving over the one tile of grass, there's a slide that's actually pretty precise and hard. Even if you get the drift, if you don't do it well enough, you'll still lose time over the author medal. I'd still recommend practicing it, but I think you can manage with a standard brake turn, where you hold the brake and then turn, or you can just release the throttle as much as you need (not super fast). If you slide, as you exit the turn, you want to be as close to the outside as possible without touching the wall. That would mean that you slowed down as little as you needed to, thus maintaining your speed.

You want to take the jump after the slide at an angle to minimize airtime and to transition down the slope smoothly. Then, there's one more pretty wide turn. This is a pretty good turn to practice sliding on if you need to learn since it's so wide. Practice braking as little as you need to, get right up next to the outside wall. The author medal isn't terribly strict though, so you can get it without being too perfect. I would just recommend practicing for the sake of improvement.
