St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern railway located in Jackson, MO operates a tourist train on 6 miles of former Missouri Pacific track. They are currently engaged in 2 major projects, repairing the track after the recent spring 2017 flood, and restoring SLIM #5, a 2-4-2 type steam locomotive to operating condition. #5 is significant in that, in the early 1980's, it was still in use on a shortline freight railroad in Marion, IL pulling revenue piggyback flats.
In this video we will highlight some of the historic railroad equipment on the property, and ride along with the track crew as they use a recently donated tie inserter.
