Here are two commercials for Toys R Us that aired in the New York City market. Various characters appeared in person, the first ad is from 1980, the second from November 1981. I remember seeing the Hulk, maybe for this very event. It was a guy in a stiff plastic costume, almost like he was wearing a Hulk-shaped suit of armor but covered in fuzzy green flocking. You couldn’t really see the actor’s eyes, so the costume must have been a bit taller than him.
