This is a, no commentary, Longplay of Toxic Crusaders for Game Boy. It is based on the Toxic Avenger black comedy movie released in 1984. You can play as Toxie but also control his allies Nozone, Major Disaster, Headbanger and Junkyard trying to stop the bad guys and their leader. The game has the start option and a 5-digit password system to resume the game in one of the episodes it consists of.

There are 6 episodes, each one has some stages to beat (vary between 3 and 5) and an boss fight at the end. The goal is simply to reach the end of each level at one piece and defeat the bosses at the end of each episode. There is no score point system or time limit to complete the stages.

Regarding the game itself, it's mediocre in length with many repetitive enemies and background scenes. Graphics are decent but nothing memorable. Music is acceptable having a variety of songs since each hero has its own music. There are 2 health pickups, the atom which heals half heart and tank which heals 3 hearts. There is one more pickup, the spring which allows to jump higher reaching secrets areas (it can be used only once though). Each hero starts with 5 hearts and there are no lives, so if hearts are depleted you can't revive the character. When all heroes are gone it is game over. As for difficulty, it looks quite hard when you start playing it (easy to die, many pit holes, moving platforms, respawing enemies, secret health pickups etc.), but when you learn the patterns of each enemy and the surroundings, it get easier. What I didn't like are the frame drops when many enemies are on screen (poor optimization). Also Headbanger throws microscopes wtf?

In short, Toxic Crusaders is a poorly rashly made video game with significant frame drops and very repetitive levels. I'm surprised it is licensed by Nintendo. All pickups collected (including secret ones I have found). No death run (death = one of the heroes is killed).

Below are the time stamps for each stage:
