This session will serve as input for the “Blue Road to COP 26”, a series of high-level events and working meetings conducted by the UN Global Compact Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform. The Blue Road to COP 26 will assess how harnessing ocean-based solutions can advance global climate goals. One of the core focus areas will be zero-emission maritime transport.
The UNFCCC High-Level Climate Change Champions have set ambitious targets for the Race to Zero Breakthroughs for international shipping, including 5 percent zero-emission fuels by 2030, campaigning to achieve this near-term milestone to ensure that the sector is on track for net-zero emissions before 2050.
Discussions during this meeting will explore how we can achieve the COP 26 Race to Zero breakthrough ambitions.
