There’s a strange serendipity to the pontoon studio in Hammersmith, set in the middle of the Thames on the stretch of river that artist Tarka Kings has known all her life. She grew up here, and returned just as she was preparing a series of drawings inspired by her morning swims in Hyde Park’s Serpentine- works now on view at Offer Waterman. Surrounded by water ‘from the morning to the evening,’ her studio reflects what she describes as ‘a very strange contradiction between it being very peaceful, but the river being incredibly active because the tide is constantly moving’.
