Oh my lerd and welcome to not Danmakufu Delirium. HSiFS came out today and hooo boy I like this game. I'll have a few things to say in this description, so uhh...beware of text walls. If you don't feel like reading, just enjoy the video.
This is my first clear of the Extra stage. I'd been attempting this nonstop after my first-try Normal mode 1cc with Fall Aya. Everything past the seventh spell (the one with the big dipper) was completely new terrain for me during this playthrough.
At first getting used to this "Zero Season", as I call it, was a little bit tough. It's similar to Summer in that it only consumes one option per season release. I think the release is a tad bit bigger though. The Zero options have you fire backwards, and the Extra stage sure makes use of that, as seen during the midbosses' first and second spells, and later a few times during Okina's fight. Personally, I think ZUN went a little overboard here. Especially in situations where you might want to season-release, I wound up using a bomb so as to not sacrifice some of my rear firing power.
The season release cooldown also caught me off-guard quite often. I'm lucky I didn't die there at the end of the first midboss card.
But thanks to HSiFS' resource-friendliness, this wound up being my second-quickest zero-to-hero clear of an Extra stage thus far, only trumped by Suwako, and ONLY because I exploited her first spell's glitch.
Supposedly, you canonically lose to Okina during the main scenario, and come back to her place during the Extra stage for revenge. The stage is even called "Revenging Stage". Considering this would be the first time you canonically lose to your opponent, would this make Okina Matara the new most powerful character in all of Touhou?
