I’ve been on a real Touhou kick for some reason lately, so expect one or two more remixes in the near future. :]
Ahhhhh it’s been such a long time!!!!! I don’t think I’ve remixed a Touhou theme for at LEAST a year and a half, or something? It’s so weird how that can happen, without even realizing. I don’t know, I guess I needed a break from it, but right now it’s just hitting the spot for me. I had actually planned to do a remix from LOLK when the game came out months ago, but it was like, I felt this pressure to do it? And I also thought it’d be pointless if I didn’t do a boss theme in particular, and so I figured I just shouldn’t do one at all if it was gonna cause me stress. But it’s all good now that LOLK is old news lol.
I don’t have too much to say about this theme in particular other than I think it’s one of the hypest stage one themes in the series (and consequently has a fantastic hook, hence the remix) so I’m just gonna talk about the game for a bit. It’s honestly one of my least favourite in the series LOL. It’s like. Way too hard for me? And that wouldn’t be a problem, if the game was balanced properly for legacy mode. But it’s not. So I’m forced to play pointdevice mode, an interesting idea that unfortunately doesn’t resonate with me at all. I play Touhou for the endurance challenge, to feel good about collecting resources and managing them well enough to make it to the final boss—pointdevice mode is the COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF THAT. Dying has no substantial penalty, and the whole gimmick is to collect graze points to up your score from what I can gather. I don’t care about that at all, so I can’t be bothered to care about pointdevice mode or subsequently LOLK. And that’s a damn shame, because there are some fun bullet patterns and music themes in this game that are ultimately unreachable in-game for me.
I’m not sure why I felt compelled to talk about that, but hey, maybe someone else shares the same sentiment. Hope you guys like the remix! I’m pretty happy with it, especially the original section I wrote towards the middle. :)
