Classic blues lick from Jerry Garcia, on the Hank Ballard song "Tore Up Over You." It actually sticks pretty close to Hank's original version, though it's in a different key. This one is in what I call "blues mode," which sorta looks like mixolydian, but includes the minor 3rd as a passing tone to get to the major 3rd. Also a good study in the CAGED system "A" shape, which might be a little less familiar than the others.
