Topps is testing a new approach to combat scalpers: selling product with the wrapper removed or the seal broken before it leaves the shop.
On paper, the idea makes sense. If sealed boxes are harder to instantly flip, maybe more product ends up in the hands of actual collectors. But will this really stop scalping, or does it create a whole new set of problems for shops, breakers, and buyers?
In this video, we talk through the upside, the concerns, and whether an unsealed product test is actually a smart move by Topps — or just another weird chapter in the modern hobby.
What do you think? Would you buy an unsealed box if it meant scalpers had a harder time flipping it?
