Students from 32 schools across Durham and Orange counties gathered at Duke University to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Duke Community Affairs.

Students representing Durham Public Schools, Chapel Hill–Carrboro City Schools, and Orange County Schools put their spelling skills to the test for a chance to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

At the end of the competition, three finalists earned medals, and one champion secured their place on the national stage. Duke Community Affairs will provide $1,500 in travel support to help the regional winner attend the national competition.

Now in its 10th year, the Duke Regional Spelling Bee celebrates academic excellence and Duke’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and lifelong learning across the community.
