This strangely was one I hadn't covered yet. I must say I'm more of a fan of yellow florals than I really realised. Normally I'd be willing Spring to come but with this maybe it's summer I want.
We know the formula by now, the meaningless "definitions". One Indie, one niche, one designer.
Ylang-ylang to me is a very sunshiney note. It really does smell yellow. It can be sweet, even banana sweet like, rich and thick and even like just a soft yellow flower. However, my love is the indolic nature. Obviously jasmine and tuberose are what we are probably most used to, but even with them I tend not to notice it. Ylang-ylang seems more often than not to have that beautiful edge. It is especially noticeable in more vintage fragrances. So as well as being a sunshiney happy bright flower, it's also a naughty one who's been upto all sorts with it's petals 😉. Anyways, this description is now longer than the video.
