Description: A hike through the Clarno Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. The unit is located 18 miles west of the town of Fossil. 44 million years ago a series of volcanic mudflows, swept up and preserved a diverse assortment of plants and animals that inhabited a near-tropical forest. If one has sharp eyes a variety of different fossils can be seen trapped in the rock. We spotted several.

Top Spur Trail. Short hike to one of the most iconic viewpoints of Mt Hood. Unfortunately, one is limited to hiking to the viewpoint + 1/3 mile and back. The loop trail is not doable at this time due to a massive amount of downed trees.
