With 271 horsepower, along with standard all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned suspension, this compact sport sedan is wildly fun to drive on a challenging mountain pass. It's also comfortable enough for the daily commute, giving it broad appeal.
The WRX has competition, though. The Honda Civic Type R is all-new this year, as is the Toyota GR Corolla. They join the returning Volkswagen Golf R and Hyundai Elantra N in the WRX's competitive set. The GR Corolla and VW Golf R are close competitors to the WRX since they also come with all-wheel drive, though the front-wheel-drive Civic Type R is good enough to satisfy drivers who prefer rear- or all-wheel drive.

Available as a two-door coupe or two-door convertible, the Chevrolet Camaro is a time machine that can take drivers back to the 1960s. In an era when name-brand sedans are nearing the endangered species list, the Camaro soldiers on. But the prognosis is not looking good. Many suggest the 2023 Camaro will be followed by a very similar 2024 model and then extinction. But this talk of doom obscures the fact that the current Camaro is a blast to drive and very good-looking. The Camaro offers tight accommodations for two plus an "occasional" rear seat for two adults. Its powerful engines and rear-drive chassis make for sporting fun that today's front-wheel-drive performance cars can't touch.

The Kia K5 debuted in 2021 as a replacement for the Optima, a midsize sedan with sharp styling and good overall value. The K5 had big shoes to fill, but it did so with very strong results. The chiseled exterior made it a standout in an otherwise bland class, and it had the performance to match.
Despite the lack of a hybrid alternative, the 2024 K5 remains our favorite in the class. We're confident you'll agree it does everything expected of a midsize sedan, and more.

Last year's redesign fixed the Toyota GR86's minor flaws and re-established it as one of the best sports-car bargains on the market. It still doesn't have much room inside, but if affordable performance is a top priority, there are few cars that deliver like the GR86.
