The Last Stitch | Top 5 Sewing Tips for Beginners: Things I Wished I Knew When I Started Sewing @Thelaststitch | Uploaded April 2018 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
Are you new to dressmaking or just want to learn the best sewing tips?
Here are my top five beginner sewing tips:
1. Always check the measurements. Both your own and the ones on the garment
2. Always do samples. It is especially important to test stitches on your chosen fabrics
3. Don't over-pin when you are sewing. Too many needles will distort the fabric and you also risk sewing over them.
4. Use seam guides to make sure you sew straight.
5. Don't be too hard your on yourself!
