Most Amazing Helicopters of the Russian Army
Kamov Ka-50
The Kamov Ka-50 is a Russian helicopter with the unique coextensive rotor system of the Kamov design bureau designed in the 80s. It is a single-seat helicopter. It began operating in the Russian army in 1995. The Progress Company developed Kamov Ka-50 in Arsenyev.
Kamov Ka-50 is a heavily armed scout helicopter. It is the first helicopter with an efficient rescue ejection system. After the success of this model, during the late 1990s, Kamov and Israel Aerospace Industries manufactured a tandem-seat cockpit version of this model, Kamov Ka-50-2, and named it 'Erdogan.' The name, Erdogan. Does that ring a bell?
MI-35M
Number 4 in out list is the MI-35M. Designed and developed by Rostvertol, this helicopter is multi-purpose and combat. Rostvertol is a subsidiary company of Russian helicopters. The purpose of manufacturing MI-35M is for military transport operations. MI-35M offers highly superior performance and costs 35 million U.S. dollars.
The manufacturing of MI-35M began in 2005. The aircraft is an integration of the latest, highly-accurate weaponry for destroying ground-based bullet-proof targets and providing air support for ground operations. MI-35M can be altered as a medical evacuation platform as well.
Mil Mi-28
Mil Mi-28 is a better-optimized version of the Mil Mi-24 gunship helicopter. Mil Mi-28 performs several functions such as Nesterov's loop, sideways flight, and flight back. It can accelerate sideways at up to 100 km an hour and turn at an angular velocity of 117 degrees per second. Mil Mi-28 has the reporting name of Havoc. The helicopter holds a single gun in its barbette.
Mil Mi-24
Up next is Mi-24, a large gunship attack helicopter. It has low-capacity, with space for eight passengers. Produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, this model has been in service since 1972. The Soviet Air Force has used it, and it's successors. Moreover, 48 other countries also use Mi-24.
Interestingly, Mi-24 has gained popularity in Hollywood's military movies as well.
Kamov Ka-226
Kamov Ka-226, like the previous models manufactured by the helicopter-maker Kamov of Russia, has the co-axial prior rotor arrangements. The arrangement is such that the main rotor, which is multi-bladed, is set atop of another. This is a light utility helicopter. More than 100 units of this flexible helicopter have been manufactured and operated.
Overall, the Ka-226 shares a standard design that has the cockpit overlooking the nose section, an engine at the center, a cabin for passengers, and at the rear, there is a tail unit. The vision out of the cockpit is excellent and makes this mean machine an attractive option to have.
