So this was a top 16 battle with Mitchell Sanders last year at Drift Challenge Australia; with the Laurel having around 4 times the power of the little Celica, we decided on a game plan before the battle to keep things even so we could have a good close battle without the laurel getting a huge gap on the Celica up the hill.
The judged lap begins at the top of the hill, so Mitch was to run ahead in the lead up, while i waited back and let him get the head start up the hill on the inside lane. From there i just had to make sure i hit the go pedal at the right time so we entered together at the top. To be honest it was mostly luck, but it actually worked perfectly and even with the crazy power and speed difference Mitch was on my door the whole way down the hill, even to the point of giving me a little nudge through the transition!!
Competition doesn't have to all be about straight faces and politics, put on a show and enjoy drifting with your mates!
