Shy Guy (Also known as Propeller Shy Guy, or Fly Guy) is a stage hazard on Yoshi's Story who has a massive amount of potential to create incredibly jank moments and interfere with matches at random times.
Despite being overshadowed by the more prevalent Randall, Shy Guys can still have massive impacts on and even decide games, either by blocking an important hit, disrupting a player that is recovering, or blocking a projectile, as well as the infamous "Shy Guy DI"
What is Shy Guy DI?
Shy Guys actually cause hitlag when someone is knocked into them, the player's speed will stay the same, but this can cause the trajectory to change massively for players that are using DI or SDI while they are knocked into it.
This can cause some hilarious moments when a high percentage player is knocked into a Shy Guy while using DI, causing them to suddenly fly in the direction of the DI at an incredibly high speed. And as you'll see in this video, Shy Guy DI does actually have practical use for survival or comboing, if you use it properly.
