I had some fantastic wildlife and nature encounters/experiences in 2023! New birds and new wildlife and encounters that brought tears to my eyes because they were so inspiring and beautiful. Not super exciting encounters, but all thrilling and many that took me back to my childhood (beargrass) and teen years when I first began the quest to capture a decent photo of a Belted Kingfisher. A great lesson in perseverance and sticking to what you love - eventually things will work out!
I put up two Wren houses this spring and they were both occupied! Seeing the hornets get drunk on the fermented apples was very interesting and entertaining.
The Painted Lady butterflies on the Zinna's was exquisite and seeing the hillsides and fields covered with Yucca plants in bloom was beautiful.
The encounter with the spider casting its web was fun - if you are ever watching a spider and see it stand on its head, you know that it is casting its web trying to get it to catch on something.
Going huckleberrying with family and friends was wonderful, as my mom got to go with us and really enjoyed eating them fresh off the bushes.
It was hard narrowing it down to just 16 encounters. I hope that you enjoy the ones that are included in this video.
