Learn the Sky | Tools for Viewing the Night Sky @learnthesky | Uploaded August 2016 | Updated October 2024, 50 minutes ago.
If you are interested in becoming an expert stargazer, learn some tricks of the trade and set yourself up for success. Here are some basic tools I use as an amateur stargazer.
Key items to collect: Starwheel (AKA planisphere), a red light, astronomy field guide, and a comfortable chair, blanket, hammock, etc...
Suggested items: Binoculars, telescope, and astronomy magazine subscriptions. Be sure to bring your family, friends, or even pets along for some good company as you learn about the sky and watch for stars.
