I saw Tool and Elder at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sunday the 21st of January. Elder opened and played a short but blistering 30 minute set which they absolutely slayed. This was my second time seeing em and first time as an opener. This was my second Tool show with the first being the NJ show in 2019. This was my 40th birthday present from my older brother Mike. He's the reason I'm a fan of Tool and heavier music and for that I am forever grateful.
Elder were the perfect openers for the show but I am biased considering I'm a huge fan of them ever since I first heard them the day their 2017 record Reflections of a Floating World was released. They opened with Sanctuary off of Reflections. They also played Halcyon granted they skipped the first 3 or so minutes of the intro but that is normal since they opened and played only a 30 minute set. Won't be making their headline show in Asheville tonight so those going enjoy. Elder's three song set was perfect and I enjoyed it immensely.
I've been dealing with major depression for the better part of my life and I've haven't been in the best place lately and Tool's show was extremely cathartic. When they started playing Invincible I broke down in tears and couldn't stop crying. The lyrics to that song speak to me in more ways than one. Their entire set was a truly transcendent experience and I'm so glad that my brother and I got to enjoy it.
This is the last song Schism and the one that Maynard allows fans to record. Sorry for how the video is I just put my phone in landscape mode pressed record and continued watching with my eyes. Audio quality is good though. Enjoy
