Tony Stewart kills Sprint Car driver Kevin Ward Jr. at a dirt track in Upstate New York Saturday night. On August 9th 2014 Kevin Ward crashed his sprint car into the wall after popular Nascar driver Tony Stewart took some track away from him Saturday night.
Tony Stewart is know for his hot temper and aggressive style of auto racing. Kevin Ward Jr. was 20 years old and had won Rookie Driver of the Year in 2013. Ward, apparently blaming Stewart for causing the crash that put him out of the race, ran on the oval dirt track into oncoming race cars. Ward Jr. was aggressively pointing at Tony Stewart's race car while standing on the track when Tony Stewart hit him and throwing him in the air about 50 feet. Emergency responders were already on the way to the scene when the incident happened. What they came upon was a Kevin Ward Jr.'s lifeless body. Tony Stewart immediately pulled over his race car after realizing he hit and may have killed the 20 year old driver. It's reported Tony Stewart likes to race sprint cars in his spare time.
Investigators are looking into the incident to determine if charges will be brought against Tony Stewart. Spectators claimed to hear Stewart accelerate his race car into Ward possibly trying to just scare him. The video shows Tony's car going much faster than the other cars, who had slowed down. Tony's reputation for being a hot head may not help in the pending investigation into the driver's death.
