WIRED UK | Tony Gee: Can Our Software Ever Be Unhackable? | WIRED Smarter 2019 @wireduk | Uploaded February 2020 | Updated October 2024, 22 hours ago.
Tony Gee is a Consultant Partner at Pen Test Partners. For 14 years, Tony's job has been either trying to break technology or defend it from attack. This he has done everywhere from banks to mass transport systems.
Can our software ever be unhackable? In this video, Tony shows what kind of vulnerabilities Pen Test Partners look for in products and have found in companies. He uses examples from dating apps that are sharing exact user locations to advertisers and he explains how Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek hacked a Jeep.
He shares some things that companies can do to be less vulnerable, and what mandatory codes of conduct need to be implemented to ensure companies are reducing consumer risk.
