Hi Guys and Gals Today I got a special delivery from the delivery guy and its one I was waiting for! The TOMY Plarail Automatic transfer system station set. I re-arranged some tracks on the middle table so I could make it work and after some initial teething problems I now have it sorted out.
The set comes with a series 923 Doctor yellow Shinkansen which is a lovely train that runs on a single AA battery. The train is very well built with a quality feel and its mechanism is quiet and powerful, there is a satisfying click when you change speeds that i love. It looks great and runs very well indeed.
The star of this show is course the station itself, it comes with unique one way points that send a running train to the left platform always (as seen from the trains perspective). this then activates a switch that releases the train that was waiting in the other platform. It does all this mechanically without any batteries (very clever).
I did have some problems with the pla kids falling off the station during transfers so that is one bad point, one of the special points didn't connect well to a regular straight piece and I had to use a solid male connector stop n go piece this fixed the connector problems, that is another bad point. I also believe i got the switch decals on the wrong sides in my rush to get it set up :( Anyway I am happy with it all now!
So in conclusion an amazing piece to add to the railway and its so simple its genius I will sit there and watch 3 trains running together for sure! I also plan to use the station in every new video review to see whats suitable and whats not. I may make some small tweaks to the line in that area and lengthen it by 1 straight so its even and it can hold longer trains.
Anyhow how much did i pay? I know thats the question you are bursting to ask :P it was $135 with free EMS postage from Japan, the seller was very friendly and kind and included a hand written note to say thanks!
