Everyone hates this area, and with good reason - you can barely see and it's easy to walk clean past the bonfires. Study this path and run like hell. You won't have the lantern at first, so take special care - kill the giant skeletons if you have to, but remember that you can't see and the path is treacherous.
For those of you who are curious, I'm wearing the Gold-hemmed Robes (head, gloves and waist) along with Havel's Armour (the chestpiece). The sword is Quelaag's Furysword, and one of my replies has the method of creating it.
