Tried planting tomatoes out in fall for spring germination three years ago and its been a total success for three years straight. A no fuss method of getting seedlings in the spring and there is no need to start seedling as they catch up fast. The tomato seeds are protected by tomato slime and this gets the seeds through the winter.
