So maybe a few of your are wondering what is this 'Heartland' Genre, and why is there an entire category dedicated to it? Answer, because I love it.
Granted as a British Ex-Pat like me, I hadn't a clue either. I just knew I loved artists such as Springsteen, Tom Petty, Bob Seger etc, and even though the home of said artists in the United States, and me living further North in Canada, I'm still technically not in 'heartland' territory. As I got more into these artists, I discovered that a whole new music genre made way for them. As Wikipedia states;
"Heartland rock is a genre of rock music that is exemplified by the commercial success of singer-songwriters Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. It was characterized by a straightforward musical style, a concern with the average, blue-collar American life, and a conviction that rock music has a social or communal purpose beyond just entertainment."

This Heartland rock backing track is based off a popular song. It's not completely identical but it's close. Something about these kind of 'feel good' rock songs that I just love. I completely opted for a different kind of production on this. The Marshall JVM (thanks to such a nice profile on the Kemper Powerrack http://www.kemper-amps.com) had a rest, and instead I decided to break out the profile for a classic British Amp which I think is completely underrated. I used a Cornford Carrera (cornfordamps.com/carrera.htm). Sadly these amps went out of production last year (2013 in time of writing) so they're going to become a collectors' item soon. A tone that can only be remember by those remaining in circulation and thankfully, due to my breathtakingly accurate Kemper Profile provided by The Amp Factory (theampfactory.com/)
