Tom Holland may have just revealed a major piece of Spider-Man and MCU history that changes how we look at the Sony-Marvel relationship.
During a recent reflection on playing Peter Parker, Holland discussed what was happening behind the scenes when Sony and Marvel Studios reached their infamous Spider-Man deal dispute. And according to his account, Sony's ambitions may have gone much further than simply building a separate Spider-Man universe.
The plan reportedly involved bringing characters from Sony's Spider-Man Universe — including Venom, Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter — into the same continuity as Tom Holland's Spider-Man.
If that had actually happened, the MCU could have looked completely different.
Instead of keeping Sony's characters largely separate, Marvel could have been dealing with a massive shared universe involving Peter Parker and Sony's entire villain roster. It could even have accelerated the arrival of major symbiote storylines and changed the direction of Spider-Man's MCU future.
