Tom Adams – Time (Arr. for Piano Solo)
A week ago, on my birthday, Spotify recommended me a new album by Tom Adams - which I listened to with great pleasure (and highly recommend you check out too). But I didn’t stop at the new release - I decided to revisit Tom’s earlier work, especially his debut album Silence, which I used to listen to non-stop (I honestly wore it out).
One of the tracks that’s always stayed with me is “Time” - a personal favorite. So I sat down and played my own version.
And finally, today, I got around to uploading it.
About the composition:
“Time” is a reflective piano ballad by Cambridge-born composer Tom Adams, featured on his 2017 debut album Silence (Kowloon Records).
Tom has said:
“‘Time’ is the oldest song on the record and its meaning has evolved over time. I initially wrote it for a friend, then it became a song for several friends, then it grew to become a song that was for me as well. The time we have is limited, and so it’s worth spending it doing the things you love with the people that are important to you…”
This track marked a breakthrough moment for Adams—after a chance meeting with Nils Frahm at a 2014 Berlin concert, he was offered a recording deal and support from Frahm’s team.
Critically acclaimed, Time was described by NPR as “a rare voice amid the mountains,” capable of “slowing time” and turning everyday scenes into cinematic experiences.
