This was uploaded in colour from a Retro Ice episode many years ago, but the sound was dubbed and you never got the feel of the incredible reaction from the crowd to this performance. It was here in Munich that Toller cemented his greatness, even though this is arguably not his greatest ever free skate. Truly, an artistic breakthrough for men's skating.

There is also a wonderful touch of sportsmanship by Jan Hoffmann who is waiting to skate. Jan had not skated well in the short, so the pressure was really on to deliver here to win the world title, but he still went to the trouble of congratulating Toller on his marks. Class act all round.
