Wednesday, the family of Julian Jones heard for the first time from one of the two responding Tofino RCMP officers about what happened the night the Indigenous man died.

Const. Daniel MacIntosh took the stand via video link on the second day of the coroner’s inquest into Jones’ fatal shooting by police in an Opitsaht home on Feb. 27, 2021.

The coroner’s inquest into the Tla-o-qui-aht man’s fatal shooting is scheduled for six days. It aims to fully reveal the details of what happened, in the hopes of preventing a similar tragedy in the future.
