Todd Blanche’s hearing to become U.S. Attorney General has begun. Blanche is currently the acting AG, after the dismissal of Pam Bondi in April 2026, and onlookers like Harry Litman, former U.S. attorney and former deputy assistant AG, are waiting for the outcome of the hearing with bated breath.
Blanche has made the Justice Department anything but just. The former lawyer is responsible for creating a $1.776 billion dollar “slush fund,” using tax-payer dollars for individuals who claim to be victims of the Biden Administration. He also oversaw the release of the Epstein files, which has been criticized for holding back millions of documents and improperly redacting names. And, to top it all off, it's been reported that more than 16,000 employees have left the Department of Justice.
“They made the point of how you’ve ruined a once great department," says Litman, speaking of Blanche. "You’ve instilled a culture of fear. You’ve fired people in violation of their legal rights. And people should be aware of it. That really ultimately costs the public."
