The first polls closed at 7 p.m. in Tuesday's primaries, which are giving final form to a November ballot whose races will test Trump’s grip on his adopted state and Democrats' ability to resurrect Florida as a national political battleground. Florida has moved notably to the right since Trump won his first election in 2016, though Democrats hope to regain ground from his slumping popularity ratings.
A high-stakes legal showdown is underway in California Tuesday, with potential to change the face of social media.
Opening arguments began in the U.S. District Court in Oakland, where 29 states are part of a federal lawsuit filed against Meta, claiming Facebook and Instagram are engineered to deliberately addict children and teens while hiding the known mental heath risks.
The lawsuit also accuses Meta of harvesting data from users under 13, without parental permission.
The states are demanding Meta dramatically change its algorithm, including by placing a ban on infinite scrolling and auto-play.
And the Minnesota attorney general is suing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in an effort to force him to extradite an ICE agent to Minnesota to stand trial.
The agent, Christian Castro, is accused of shooting into a Minnesota home during an ICE operation in January and striking someone in the leg.
