The song was first recorded by American country music artist Hank Williams Jr. on his 1992 album Maverick, and was then covered by Toby Keith on his self-titled debut album a year later. Keith's version was released as the album's third single in November 1993. It also charted at number two in the United States on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) list and at number 25 in Canada on the RPM charts.
