After a season of unpredictable races, so unpredictable, that when two championship contenders never met each other on the podium, the time has finally come for the final round of the 1997 Formula 1 World Championship, the European Grand Prix on the Andalusian circuit of Jerez de la Frontera. The title contenders, Ferrari driver Michael Schumacher, seeking his third world title and his first for Maranello, and Williams-Renault driver Jacques Villeneuve, the 1996 championship runner-up rookie, who is looking to make history, are separated by just one point after a disqualification hits one of them when it seemed all over with a race to spare.

After the last of two stops for tyre changes and refuelling of the race, at the exit of the pits, the contenders are dangerously close to each other and could do anything to defend and take the hard-earned world championship in their grasp... but one of them pull a very controversial move that every fan will be remembered and, for some, even unforgivable.
