I started working on this run in mid-March as my first serious TAS. By mid-April, I completed a preliminary TAS with a time of 30.716. Kierio improved the run, getting a time of 30.688, but we had to discard the progress because I realized that the miniturbo into the start of the lap was released a frame too late. I restarted the run on my own, though I did copy some inputs for turns 3 and 4 from Ejay's rMR lap 1. After struggling with the first shroomspot for a while, I reached out to Ancient, who got a much better and tighter bounce off of the spindrift into the first shroom. I made a prelim of the second and third shrooms, which we improved over the course of a week. Ancient got a 0.004 cut on the first pipe trick using STA but couldn't get a good second pipe trick to follow it. I reused the inputs from the second pipe trick in Kierio's 30.688 and redid the last turn to squeeze out a final 0.001, yielding our final run.

Ancient, Aaron, and I started this run near the end of July with a setup that we got from Kierio. Ancient further improved the setup and got an air pocket during the first shroom in order to start a slipdrift. Aaron made a prelim of this drift and I improved it. I got a small improvement on the second shroom by using Campbell's new boost distribution tech, getting good QM on the invisible wall bypass as well. Aaron improved the bypass further by eliminating the bounces after the bypass. All three of us worked on the turn around the pillar into key checkpoint 2.
After a stagnant month of struggling to optimize this turn by getting a chaindrift through the arrow wall, Aaron found that with proper QM, we could get no airtime on the bypass and wheelie the frame after the bonk, yielding a tighter alignment and reaching max wheelie speed sooner. I performed and optimized the new fountain shortcut that Ancient and dm248 found earlier this year. In preliminary runs, when landing from the fountain shortcut, we charged a miniturbo in the trick boost. Ejay eventually proved that getting a bounce to realign and wheelie instantly was significantly faster. Aaron discovered that charging a miniturbo after the wall bonk entering the parking lot was another major timesave. The parking lot section features some fun wheelie turning tech and the last turn is cool too I guess.
At the beginning of November, our best ghost was a 19.724. The three of us agreed that we were unlikely to make further improvements on the run without something big happening. As such, we sent it to Ejay, who agreed to take a look at it and see if he could find any improvements. Shortly thereafter, he found the fountain shortcut landing strat mentioned above and finished a 19.709. With the 19.6xx in sight, I improved the run to a 19.705, then a 19.700. I spent roughly an hour trying to improve the 19.700 before giving up and going to bed. Upon waking up the next morning, I had a moment of clarity, messed with some inputs near the fountain shortcut landing, and got a 19.699 run in a matter of minutes. Over the next few days, I improved this further to the final time of 19.697.
