Literally all I did was follow through after the first miniturbo instead of hopping. I saved approximately 0.014 from this, but the next trick was slightly worse due to QM. The turn before the boost panel saved time because I could release the miniturbo early and still stick to the weird grey stair thingy that usually just makes you bounce really high, so that saved time.
The turn after that looks wide, but literally if I took it tighter I would have to shift myself to the left during the clip and that is 0.001 slower. The trick and walltrick are pretty good in my opinion, and the turns afterwards are well optimized.
Kierio mentioned to me that this was his most optimized work -- I believe it, as the rest of the flap is really really strong and was great to compare against. Overall I tried to carry my initial improvement, but due to QM, I saved 0.002.
Can this go down? I have no idea, I'm not going to say no because that never ages well, so I'll just say why not.
Credit goes to Kierio for the ghost, which I copied the inputs of the setup and the first shroom.

I worked on this off and on for like a month, mainly in between studying for my midterms and finals lol, so I would say I didn't put more than 4-5 hours into it. At first I was just doing an rBC lap for fun (with full input range but keyboard) and I got a 49.8 I think, then I used soft inputs (+/-3) and got a high 49.6. I checked and I realized I was pretty close to beating Zak's run, so I decided to restrict myself to using keyboard without full input range, which honestly means my entire run is suboptimal because the soft inputs suck. Still, this shows how well pure keyboard can perform and honestly gives me hope for ML runs, as it only needs to test 13 inputs per frame rather than 225.
As far as I know, this is BKS L1 for Mach Bike.

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS FAKE
Thanks to dm248 for outlining how this might be accomplished. I had a really fun time trying to get this to work with just 1 shroom instead of 2 (hint: it's very precise, as you have to maximize the time you land on the second portion of the rock to give yourself as much upwards momentum as possible). The hardest part of this was of course getting a clip under the wall instead of through it, which allowed me to preserve my momentum and allowed for an insanely fast transition to the road. However, I think this is the part with the biggest timesave.
I had estimated that a low 26 would be an unrealistically lower bound of a flap that wouldn't use this shortcut, with a mid 26 being more likely as the true limit. Now that I've beaten this estimated threshold, I decided it's time for me to upload this. However, this means that this flap is in no way optimized and can probably be brought down by a couple hundredths of a second at least.

Hi everyone! This is the first time I've done this kind of video, so tell me what you think!
This was a wild ride. I recorded this video with Kierio on his birthday, which just so happened to be in between three college deadlines! I was extremely stressed before and after recording, but this was a pleasant break in between :)
The full recording for this video took around one hour, in which I found the thundercloud strats for my final run. I then spent around 20 minutes of my own time cutting that down to 46.800, which is my final time.
I submitted that run thinking I'd get 10th or worse... and I was pleasantly surprised! What a track! It's one of the best custom tracks I've seen thus far, so huge props to the creator on that. Shame it isn't in CTGP lol.
There's not really much to say about the ultra, just that it's... well, an ultra lol. As for it being RTA viable, it's not that hard with a respawn (i.e. just don't go for the clip and you're good). Without a respawn, practicing clip alignment will be more important as the clip itself isn't precise or anything.
Haven't uploaded here in a while! You can see me upload on my second channel, @veryancient5431, where I post quick uploads of random TAS stuff I do. This channel is reserved for higher quality uploads with more effort and production involved.
About the shortcut itself, it's pretty easy provided you practice riding the seam for a teensy bit, and well worth the difficulty due to how easy the wheelie itself is, along with the fact that it saves 4.867 seconds :)
I had a lot of fun making this! Hopping over and over on a bunch of tracks wasn't something I was expecting to do, but I had a TON of fun TASing each track nonetheless. I have hope for a lot of tracks to be honest, and the rest that aren't faster make for cool TAFs :p.
This is also probably the most I've spent working on a video. This took me around a few weeks of on and off TASing and recording, through AP tests and currently finals. That's why my second channel hasn't really been uploading -- I've been focusing on making this video. I'll return to uploading on my second channel (dw haha) and you can expect some other cool uploads on this channel coming soon :).

The first one isn't inherently faster due to mini turbo and wheelie speed being at 113kmh or something, but keep in mind you need to drift for the next turn, so you're at 82kmh for that turn. That loses tons of time, whereas this sg is above that speed for more time. It's still a toss-up.
In its current form I do not think the second one is faster, but if a lower trick were to be achieved + better sg, it would be faster.

In all seriousness, though, this seems pretty improveable -- I didn't really check rock hop with a left spindrift + sideways momentum, which could have potential. The approach to the rock hop itself is extremely improveable, and the concept of wheeling to eventually cancel sideways momentum can easily be abusable. Coupled with the fact that the cave can probably be improved by a frame, unless new strats are found, and the fact that everything after the rock hop is completely untested, it seems as if this could MAYBE sub 30.[MKW TAS] Grumble Volcano Lap 1 Progress w/ Shooting Starancient2022-02-08 | lol

I know this isn't the MOST optimized run, but to be fair this was made in one day. Also, this is like the most fun I've had on a run in months, as I've taken the time to do a little strats test and optimize little snippets instead of going crazy over getting the tiniest things perfect.
That part aside, this track is GORGEOUS. I especially love how the creator nailed the atmosphere of being in space, giving it a unique feel despite there being so many space-themed tracks. Props to them for creating such a high quality track.
There isn't really much to say about the TASing experience. QM was pretty wacky but it wasn't anything a bit of wheelie turning couldn't do. The big U-turn actually utilized a couple of airtime pockets to get the tightest line possible. Unfortunately, I couldn't get QM for any RFH drift tricks except for one, but in one case (on the flip trick ramp) this was actually faster to get a hop due to alignment.

Audio didn't work because Dolphin 4.0-8572 doesn't work with 200cc code and I don't know how to record without that. So this is literally just a raw framedump lol.
I started working on this in 150cc, but I kept hitting the fall boundary. That version is far more optimized than this version to maximize the distance traveled, but it is unfortunately not enough to travel fully over the fall boundary, thus rendering this impossible in 150cc.
I realized this would work in 200cc, so I quickly did this in a few minutes and recorded it. This should be RTA viable and quite easy to do RTA as well.[MKW TAS] GCN Wario Colosseum (v1.3) Flap (glitch) - 19.980ancient2021-12-25 | Watch in 4K, 60fps!
THIS IS MKDASHER'S VERSION, NOT TOCK'S VERSION. Many of the shortcuts that work here might not work on Tock's version. I plan to break this track as much as possible, and move onto Tock's version to find glitch strategies on that track.
I had originally done this in September, but I had forgot to finish it and record :(. I was at a 20.008, so a few days ago I optimized the respawn and the ending and got a 19.980.
Let me explain how I found this. I first thought, what if you could get a faster start at the glitch? The way that this glitch works is to first go on the edge of the railing during the flap and then falling into the part of the track near the end of the lap, allowing for a faster time. It would be much faster if you could just start the lap being in that seam, right?
So I performed a little maneuver around the railing. This is extremely hard to do; it's hard enough to get around the railing, but even harder to stay on the track. This allowed me to start the lap inside the railing, which saves tons of time.
Next, I could either enter the lap in an ssmt, and maneuver into cp0 and trigger the lap, or I could drift into the lap. Drifting is faster, but it's also extremely hard, because cp1 is literally RIGHT NEXT to cp0, and for this glitch to work, you can't hit cp1. So I had to make use of this tiny window of space I had to trigger the lap. Once I had done this, I had many options on what to do.
I had initially just went with the old route, but there's actually this huge wall that you need to travel over, so I had to end up travelling up the seam and over the wall. During one of my improvements, I thought it would be funny to see if I could get onto the track above, just for fun. I was driving around, and realized I ended up *right next* to the ending ramp. I checked the checkpoint map, and realized it wouldn't be far off if I could just respawn and end up right near the finish line. To my surprise, I could actually trigger the last checkpoint right before I respawned, meaning that this crazy idea actually worked. It ended up saving loads of time over what I had been doing before.
This flap has been through many iterations and strat testings, and this track is nowhere NEAR done being broken. I've found a no ultra strat that is pretty interesting, and more strats that are unfortunately slower, but all this proves is that this track has a lot more to offer.
Alright, I'll admit these aren't the most useful things in the world. The first shortcut was actually a proof of concept for the second one, to see if going over the walls was possible. I wanted to make the second one without a respawn, but it looks like that isn't possible in its current form. Actually, there is one other idea... but here's what I have for now.
Is the first one possible with one shroom? Probably. Is it possible no-stop with one shroom? Probably not. So it most likely is completely useless :/

Tunnel Shortcut: This is, unfortunately, probably not faster at all. It definitely is not 3lap viable, and even if it is used in flap, it requires zig-zagging through the fountains, which is slower, and requires 2 shrooms, which, again, is a lot.
Lighthouse Shortcut: I originally got this with spear but switched to flame runner as it not only gets higher clips but is a faster vehicle for the track. This definitely saves in flap and potentially saves in 3lap by using the shroomless staircase sc, leaving a shroom for this sc and thus creates a no ultra 3lap category. In fact, spear might even be faster for 3lap since the lighthouse turn is now skipped.

Credits go to dm248 for the concept of this SC. Even though it was heavily modified by me for it to work, I still want to give him credit because without him I wouldn't've tried this idea out.
We can use this on lap 1 if it's faster, but even if it isn't we can use this on laps 2 and 3. What does this mean? Well, this means that we can utilize the op strat that cuts off the beginning of the lap AND use the op strat that cuts off the ending ramp. Essentially, the only "normal" part of coconut mall driven in laps 2 and 3 are in the middle of the course... and we aren't even going in the right direction for that. So yeah, this category just got a LOT crazier, and a lot faster! I'm guessing this saves around 1-2 seconds for 3lap![MKW TAS] New Shortcut on Toads Factoryancient2021-07-19 | Watch in 4k60!

This is crazy! When dm248 mentioned the idea to me, I initially had attempts at the fence and got a lot of height, probably enough to clear the gap, but I kept hitting the ceiling. In hindsight, it probably wouldn't've been at a good angle, but that's why this new alignment is better!
Hitting the fence is honestly super precise and really, really annoying to do. It's easily possible with a few adjustments here and there, and I'm possible this can be done in a flap TAS.
Is one shroom possible? Hard to tell as of right now. I got a 6 frame clip instead of a 5 frame clip, and the 6 frame clip had just too low of a height to clear the ceiling with one shroom. So, is it possible with a 5 frame clip and optimal TF physics during the clip? Probably not. While it may clip the ceiling, there is still an extra length you need to go for this to work, and this wouldn't work unless you can somehow bounce off of the edge of the track and land on the other side, which also runs the risk of hitting the wall.

This was found months ago in early/mid February but I never uploaded it publicly, only unlisted in terrible quality.
There honestly isn't much to explain here. You just use a shroom for the sg instead of the normal shroomspot, and while the initial setup loses quite a bit of time, the end result is that it saves ~0.3 or a bit more per lap. We're doing a supergrind between laps 1 and 2 and between laps 2 and 3, so only twice throughout the entire run. This means that the ending time is estimated to be 1:17.3xx (my personal guess is 1:17.350 for an optimized run), which is cool that a supergrind on this track saves around .6!
I don't think similar tracks can utilize this strategy for 3lap unfortunately, like DC, KC, etc. A shroom would be viable but it isn't enough to beat the current no-glitch shroomspot.

I completed this in around January-February 2021, before the full input range was widely available. This means that, yes, this time can be brought down. I assume an optimized run can probably be around 1:05.95x or even lower, but I won't do that until much longer from now.

Most unfortunate that this was uploaded today, but I literally tried this ultra for months and it's finally here. I just couldn't wait. As such, unlike the other ultra shortcuts published on this day, this is actually a real ultra.
This is probably the hardest thing I've pulled off in this game. With the help of BillyNoodles, we looked into the track's KCL and found extremely small horizontal walls on the very edge of the fence. Yes, there is an invisible wall, but part of the fence sticks out of the invisible wall. It's quite weird because it is very hard to actually land on the strip of horizontal wall, and even harder to actually pull off the HWG.
To make things harder, in 9/10 cases, when you do trigger the HWG, you pop out and don't land on the bridge seam, making you go OOB. To make sure this doesn't happen, I need to utilize an RFH ejection so I can gain lots of upwards momentum, and doing so allows all of my momentum to be mitigated so I can navigate the seam.
The seam riding was, surprisingly, not the hardest part. It was tedious and I did experience a desync, which caused all of my progress to be removed. I had to redo the entire setup.
After that, I shroom to enter the lap and turn around. The next part is extremely precise. I need to not only go right around CP0, but also enter CP3. It's easy to go around CP0, actually, but it's almost impossible to get back into CP3. After days of attempting this ultra, I finally managed to maneuver around the checkpoints and trigger the checkpoint before getting out of bounds.
This ultra is only possible with Bullet Bike. No other vehicle has the proper hitbox to collide with the horizontal wall in the proper way. I'm not even sure if it's possible with anything besides the quacker, which as we know, is slower.
This can be improved to a 1:27 and maybe a 1:26, because I probably should have gone around the building at the end instead of taking the ending rail cut. That would save maybe over .5 on each lap, so if that is faster, then 1:26 is almost definitely possible. The clips were annoying to get though (especially the shroomless one), so I probably am done with this track for the time being.
Well this was fun to make. Getting a 3/3 glitch wasn't something I had expected; initially I made a 1/3 run, and then I realized that you could get insane height if you wheelied and ejected at the right time. I quickly applied this to all 3 laps, and ended with a pretty good time. I'm guessing the limit will be around 42 seconds.
I'm not gonna optimize my 200cc tases to hell and back, they're mainly just about finding the optimal strats. This 3/3 glitch unfortunately will not be possible RTA.
The in-game audio isn't there because it had the in-game music and I didn't want to rerecord.

This was just a fun little thing I wanted to do over winter break, but not with the intent of actually optimizing it. I'm actually surprised that my laps 2 and 3 beat the 2 laps in Thomas' run, even though my lap 1 was a lot slower. I didn't watch any of the runs as reference, as I wanted to see what I could do on my own. As you can see, this didn't work out so well, as I already see an improvement to the first turn. Ah well, something to redo for later :P
I did the old method but I also want to try out the new method. However, my goal for the old method is 1:06.1xx, which seems doable given some visible improvements throughout the run.
Hope you enjoy! :)

Ah, another fine day in Mario Circuit. I had actually started this a few months ago, and stopped at 24.322 because I lost all my motivation to continue; I didn't really have the correct mindset for TASing, which exhausted me and left me with an unfinished, suboptimal result. Wow... this is insane.
After joking about Bullet Bike being the new meta (see my MC glitch flap), I actually wanted to test if this was true for other tracks. What first came to mind was BC. With its huge miniturbo, the Bullet Bike could start an rfh without needing a mushroom. Furthermore, its low weight could, when paired with a shroom, clear the gap. Now it was time to test. I was surprised -- within 15 minutes, I had completed the SC with one shroom. I did have to slow down to 60km/h to clear the gap, but I'm sure you can go much faster than this.
Even though I got a 41, it's possible to push this down to a high 38. Expect a 1:55/1:56 on this course with an optimized run.

Okay, all jokes aside, I'm extremely happy with how this turned out. I can't believe how well Bullet Bike works for this track, and it's certainly unbelievable given it's a spear track.
I had this idea a few weeks ago when I was testing Spear on this track. I was down to an 8.603 but I realized that the double cut was really annoying and hard to optimize. The Spear took the turn too wide, and you needed too wide of a line after the first shroom cut. I realized that with a tight enough drift, you could fit in a wheelie or two for a faster double cut, while also being able to cut off more. I also realized that you wouldn't need to align so wide for the double cut and you have more mini turbo boost.
I then began to test Flame Runner; however, I was unable to get the shroomless clip. My test flap without any optimization or effort using the infinite shrooms code is at an 8.642 and will most likely reach a limit of 8.59x.
Afterwards, the Sneakster intrigued me, but it was also unable to get the clip. So, I tested the one vehicle I thought would never work: Bullet Bike. I quickly got the clip, and began testing, and got an 8.652. This wasn't bad for a first flap but not good either. I tested a new starting strat as well as a new double cut strat and got 8.629. After that, I made little alignment improvements and got an 8.586. I was shocked when I saw this, as I never thought sub .6 would be this easy. But I didn't stop there; I pushed the flap down to an 8.536 after wheeling for a few more frames on the first and second turn. Through further optimization, I got an 8.534. I realized that my theory about the Bullet Bike was correct, and it is the fastest vehicle for this course.

Thanks for everyone for supporting me and getting me to 50 subs! I never thought I'd come this far so early, and I really am glad to reach this milestone. That being said, I'll definitely upload more and hope to reach 100 soon! :D
Oh btw, if it's a little short, it's because I suddenly got 5 subs in a day and I didn't have anything planned, so I just put together an unfinished project and called it a day. Whoops.

I completed the run using a keyboard, but that limits my inputs greatly. I'll redo the run implementing accidental strats I've discovered, such as performing a slip drift after the sandhop. I believe this lap can be pushed to 37.4xx.
Also sorry, my speedometer decided to not work. I'll get rid of it when I record my 3lap.
