Tensions flared on Thursday as the Tennessee state legislature cleared the public gallery of spectators amid the Republican push to redraw the state’s lone Democratic district.
Mother Jones’s Garrison Hayes has been on the scene covering the developments and filed this video as protesters were ejected and the crowd yelled, “Whose house? Our house!”
“Your racist maps won't silence us,” said Jess Williams, a director at The Equity Alliance in Nashville. “We're going to continue to fight. This is just the beginning. You haven't seen or heard the last of us yet.”
