TKA is a Latin Freestyle/Dance-pop trio hailing from New York City. The name TKA comes from the initials of the three original members - Tony Ortiz, Louis “Kayel” Sharpe, and Angel “Love” Vasquez. Considered by many to be the “Kings of Freestyle” (though the group rejects this label, as “there are no ‘kings’ in Freestyle”), the group got their start in an East Harlem church in the early 1980s. From that church, they would go on to become one of the most prominent Freestyle acts of the 80s and 90s and this behind-the-scenes footage shows the band performing, in the studio and around their NYC neighborhood.

Why You Treat Me So Bad? is the second single from Club Nouveau’s 1986 album Life, Love & Pain, following the success of “Lean On Me”.
The song has been sampled several times by other musicians. Hip-hop duo Luniz interpolated the song on their hit single I Got 5 on It”. It was also sampled on I Like It by Mr. Capone-E and I Know by Yo Gotti, Only U” by Ashanti, as well as Jennifer Lopez on Im Gonna Be Alright.
Gwen Stefani cited the song as the reason she recorded her solo debut album Love. Angel. Music. Baby., after she listened to it while the band was on tour.
The song hit #2 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Chart in 1987.
