Writing characters talking is not easy. It serves a purpose, whether that is character or plot development or sharing ideas. If we write a conversation that mirrors the real-world, it would be meandering and terrible to read. How can we accomplish all the goals in that dialogue while still making it believable?

I'll give pointers from my experiences on improving the conversations I've written.
