Welcome back to another quick, relaxing watercolor session! Following up on our recent tiny floral video, tonight we are keeping things simple, loose, and deeply satisfying with warm, earthy seed heads and dried wildflowers in under 15 minutes.
In this real-time paint-along, we tape off a small rectangular border on 5x7 cold press watercolor paper, then lay down a soft background wash using warm yellow ochre and gentle blue tones. Once the wash is dry, I sketched the initial outlines for the seed pods and delicate petals, and then layered in light ochre and brown washes to build warmth, and finish with loose, expressive pen details to bring the whole study to life.
This quick project is ideal for a peaceful evening warm-up, practice in looseness, or a lovely handmade postcard or gift!
