The Tamper is a 4500 Hz targeted masking noise designed with the intention of offering relief from tinnitus when the listener's 'T' sound is in a similar range to this frequency, in some cases. While it is not a strategy that always, works, often the tinnitus sound may be reduced by 10 to 30% simply by playing this sound in the background for an hour while going about your day.
The should is best played back at a low volume, lower than the sound being masked and listeners use either speakers or headphones based on personal preference and comfort.
Listeners often use sounds on the channel for better sleep, focus and study, relaxation and making other nearby distracting sounds go away.
The mind hears a lot of sounds, however, it does not always focus on all of them, similar to vision, or it would be too much stimulus. When the mind becomes focused on a particular sound, be it around you, or in the mind such as tinnitus, a newly introduced sound will provide the mind a different subject and in some cases let go of the original sound.
