In the early to mid 90s that Jim Carrey was the man in Hollywood. He was one of the first guys that was pulling in $20 million per movie. After Ace Ventura and Dumb and Dumber, Carrey could have done a movie about just about anything and it would have been a hit.  So in 1994 Hollywood execs tried to do a comic book, almost Superhero like comedy starring Carrey called The Mask.
Cartoon-loving Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey), an insecure bank clerk working at the local Edge City bank, is frequently ridiculed by everyone around him. Gangster Tyrell sends his dazzling singer girlfriend Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz) into Stanley's bank to record its layout, in preparation for a robbery.
