A deadly attack has shocked New York City’s Times Square after two people were allegedly stabbed in a random and unprovoked knife attack. Police say 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros was carrying two knives when she allegedly stabbed a 68-year-old man in the abdomen and a woman in the stomach.
Both victims were rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where the female victim later died from her injuries. The male victim remains in stable condition.
NYPD officers reportedly spent around four minutes ordering Cisneros to drop the knives before she allegedly threatened officers and continued moving toward them. Officers then opened fire, killing the suspect.
The deadly police shooting is now under investigation as authorities examine the critical moments leading up to the gunfire. New York City officials have defended the officers, saying their intervention may have prevented an even more serious attack.
