"I first heard Gary Burr sing this song at the Bluebird Cafe in the late ‘90s and later when Collin Raye recorded it. I recorded it on my Gentle Man solo album in 2021. Although it’s about a man sitting on a bar stool, drowning his years and traveling back in time, to me it was much more than that. It was about the barstool that I have sat on for years in my concerts, going back in time to when Joey was here with me… drowning in the past - not yet able to imagine the new, sweet love story I’m part of now."
